As You Open Your Eyes

Eine Dokumentarfilm-Serie über die Kraft eines gemeinsamen Traums, die Stärke und Fähigkeiten die jeder Einzelne in sich trägt und Stärken von gemeinsam entwickelten Lösungen.

Am 8.2. ab 19:30 zeigen wir in der Tankstelle Bregenz zwei der insgesamt sechs Episoden der Doku-Film-Serie „As You Open Your Eyes“. Die kurzen Dokumentarfilme portraitieren Gemeinschaften weltweit, die aus sich heraus Lösungen entwickeln, um mit den wachsenden Herausforderung gut leben zu können.

Die Filme sind so diverse wie die Gemeinschaften und Menschen die sie zeigen:
· Die älteren Menschen in Uganda die gemeinsam in Harmonie und selbstbestimmt leben wollen.
· Die Jungen auf Mauritius die mit einem Fußballteam den kritischen Lebensbedingungen entkommen möchten.
· Die Flüchtlinge in den Niederlanden die ihre Integration in die eigenen Hände nehmen.
· Die Menschen auf den Molukkeninseln in Indonesien, die ihre eigene Lösung finden um mit der steigenden Umweltbelastung zurechtzukommen.
· Die „Träumer“ in Frankreich die mit ihrer Idee vom einem gemeinsamen Leben und der gemeinschaftlichen Nutzung von Ressourcen mittlerweile auch Entscheidungsträger inspirieren.
· Die Gemeinschaft in Thailand die mit vereinten Kräften der Stigmatisierung HIV-Infizierten begegnet.
Was alle Projekte vereint ist ein menschen- und stärkenzentrierter Prozess im Kern und Menschen die Verantwortung für ihre Herausforderungen und die individuellen Lösungen übernehmen.

Die beiden Episoden die wir in der Tankstelle zeigen geben Einblick in zwei dieser Gemeinschaften und ihren Traum.

Die „Dancing Jajas“ die älteren Menschen in Uganda (wieder-) entdecken ihre eigenen Fähigkeiten und laden ein, die Hüften zu schwingen und im Kopf jung zu bleiben. Und die Jungen auf Mauritius kicken in „The Match of our Lives“ nicht nur um den Sieg sondern im wahrsten Sinne um ihr Leben.
Das Filmprojekt ist in Zusammenarbeit mit „The Constellation“, einer NGO mit Sitz in Belgien, die weit Veränderungsprozesse begleitet und Visual Development, einer kleine Filmproduktionsfirma entstanden und wird über den Zeitraum von ca. 2 Jahren produziert.

Die Filme haben je eine Länge von 30min bzw. 40min und sind in englischer Sprache bzw. in Originalsprache und Englisch untertitelt.

Nach dem Film gibt es die Möglichkeit Fragen zum Film, den Filmemachern, der Organisation und ihrer Arbeit zu stellen.

WE INVITE YOU TO A MOVIE NIGHT!!!
As You Open Your Eyes

A documentary film series about the power of a shared dream, the strength and skills each one of us carries inside herself and the magnitude of collaboratively developed solutions.

On February 8th at 7:30pm we will screen two of six short film episodes of the „As You Open Your Eyes“ series. The short documentaries shine a light on communities worldwide, who developed their own, sustainable solutions to cope with their increasing challenges. The movies are as diverse as the communities they show:
· The older people in Uganda who’s dream is to live in harmony and self-sustainable.
· The boys on Mauritius who from a football team to overcome violence and drug abuse.
· The refugees in the Netherland who take their integration process in their own hands and are now supporting others.
· The inhabitants of the Moluccan Islands in Indonesia who found their own solutions to deal with the increasing pollution.
· The „dreams“ in France who dreamed about co-living and sharing resources and are now inspiring decision makers.
· The community in Thailand that through the actions of some members is fighting stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV.
The core of all this projects is a human- and strength-based approach and people who take ownership for their challenges and solutions.

The two episodes that we will present at the Tankstelle are examples of two communities and their dream.

The „Dancing Jaja“ the older people in Uganda (re-) discover their strengths. They invite us to dance with them and remain juvenile. The boys on Mauritius are fighting to win „The Match of our Lives“ that symbolizes their own young life.

The project is a co-production of „The Constellation“, a NGO from Belgium and „Visual Development“, a small film production company. The aim is to produce a series of six short films over the course of 2 years, presenting different stories of community change. By shining a light on these communities they hope inspire others to take action to improve their situations and persuade policy makers and commodity providers to support community responses.

The movies are 30-40min long, in English or original language with English subtitles.

After the screening you are invited to for a Q&A about the movies, the filmmakers and the work of „The Constellation“.
