Rufus Coates & Jess Smith (formerly Rufus Coates & the Blackened Trees) are a unique, dark and atmospheric, Irish blues/folk duo currently based in Berlin. They are known for their 2 voices and music coming together and causing a stir, Rufus with his deep strong vocal and Jess winding in and out with occasional roars

They released their debut album (Rufus Coates & the Blackened Trees)in 2016 to much critical acclaim, including the much coveted -The Irish Times ‘Album of the Week’ – at the end of 2016
